Asian Style Broccoli

Oriental Style Broccoli
The subtle Asian flavor really enhances this steamed broccoli. This broccoli recipe tastes like you ordered out!

1 pound fresh broccoli cut into bite sized pieces.
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 cloves chopped garlic
1/2 tablespoon brown sugar
2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/2 can water chestnuts 
  1. Place broccoli in a steamer basket in a medium saucepan with just enough water to touch bottom of steamer basket. 
  2. Cover and steam the broccoli for 5-6 minutes until it is crisp but tender.
  3. Meanwhile heat a small saucepan over medium high heat.
  4. Add the olive oil, swirling to coat the pan evenly. Saute the garlic until tender.
  5. Add the brown sugar, soy sauce, and lemon juice stirring over medium heat until warm. 
  6. When broccoli is done arrange in a serving dish and add drained water chestnuts.
  7. Drizzle sauce over vegetables before serving.
