If you are like me you want to spend as little time and money at the grocery store. The best way to do that is to shop with a list. Here are some great tips to making your list so you can save time and money while shopping.
- Keep your list either on or near the refrigerator or on the inside door of your pantry. (convenience matters)
- Keep a pen or pencil nearby.
- Divide your list into categories according to how your grocery store stocks their shelves. (fresh vegetables and fruit, canned items, dairy, dry goods, refrigerated and frozen foods, etc.)
- Add items to your list as you run low. (I don't like waiting until I run out because I like to see if I can buy what I need on sale.)
- When you get the grocery store circulars, add the sale items you want to your list or place the circular with your list so you can add them at a more convenient time.
- If you sit down and meal plan for the week, that's a good time to add needed ingredients to your list so you can make those wonderful recipes.
- Attach coupons to your list so you don't forget to bring them along. (Coupons are not always the best deal, so make sure you compare prices.)
- Do a quick check in the pantry, refrigerator or freezer for any items you may have missed before going to the store.
- Bring your list with you when you go on errands just in case you decide to pick up a few things on your way home.
- If you forget something at the store or it wasn't on sale add it to your next list.
