Braised Leeks
Leeks that are tender and slightly sweet will compliment most meals.
1 teaspoon butter
4 leeks white and green parts only, washed quartered lengthwise and cut into 1-inch pieces 4 cloves thinly sliced garlic |
1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
1 tablespoon sugar |
- Heat a heavy skillet over medium heat.
- Melt butter and saute leeks and garlic for 6-7 minutes.
- Add chicken broth, cover skillet and simmer for about 10 minutes or until leeks are tender.
- Remove cover and cook another 10 minutes, or until the liquid is absorbed.
- Increase heat to medium-high, stir in sugar cook for 6-7 minutes.
