Seared Tuna with Avocado
This is my adaptation of a recipe from Tyler Florence of The Food Network. This sauce has an excellent flavor. The addition of the avocado really makes it an interesting entree so don't leave it out.
1 pound fresh Tuna
2 tablespoon olive oil (for searing the tuna) 3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger |
1 clove minced garlic
juice of 1 lime 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 avocado peeled, pit removed, and sliced |
- In a small glass bowl, combine the cilantro, red pepper, ginger, garlic, lime juice, soy sauce and 1 tablespoon olive oil.
- Heat a heavy skillet over medium-high heat. When the skillet is hot add the 2 tablespoons of oil.
- Add the tuna to the hot oil and sear for 1 minute. Turn the fish over and sear the other side for 1 minute.
- Remove the tuna from the skillet, slice into servings, pour sauce over tuna, and add the avocado slices just before serving.
